What is your passion project?:
My groups passion project is Environment. We have been thinking about all of the things we can do outside our community.
What have you learnt/do so far?:
We have come up with a idea about cleaning up south Brighton and if we have time we might help out with the Kyle park tunnel.
How do this help you achieve your passion project?:
It will help out with doing something out in our community and bring it back in to the hornby community.
What is your next step?:
Our next step is emailing the South Brighton Association group, and the other people that we need information about cleaning up the beach.
What evidence do you have that this is something you need to do?:
We have all of the information but we just need to email of get in contact with all of the people that will let us do this project.

The unknown person
One day i was walking around the mall with my best friend her name was Yasmine, she was the only person that I could trust about anything.
We made it around the mall and we had seen somebody that we know from school her name was Emma, we have never talked to her because we don't like the way she speaks. We want to talk to her one day but we never get the chance to ever speak too her because she is always hanging with her friends that is the only problem. It may have been a week or two but we don't keep count at all we should though, but we had seen her at the park. Yasmine and I we up to Emma but she was not her self she had told us that she had just been attacked. The only thing that was going on in my mind was is that person still her, is he watching me. I was so super scared everyone in the park had been told to go home because someone had just been killed, was it the same person that attacked Emma.
It had been two week after Emma had been attacked, not only was that person was out there but school was starting soon everybody was angry all ready. Everyone went back to school the whole school had been told that Emma had been killed over the holiday, everything never made sense anymore, I was really scared now all I wanted to was go home and hide. My whole class went to the funeral i was crying not meaning i was sad but i never seen it coming I wish I could have done something to stop it.
I may have been home for about 2 weeks because i was not up to going to school because i knew that someone might just come up to me and kill me. The next day I went to school and i had seen that half of the class was not there, my teacher had told me that half of the class was died. I was really scared now nothing like this has ever happened to anybody like this before now I hope that my best friend does not get killed. Five weeks later it was only me and Yasmine left everybody else was killed, now it was a murder investigation this meant i was going to help out, but Yasmine was very scared.
This story is now going to be told by Yasmine's point of view
So knowing that it was only me and Olivia left was more than scared ever, I was hoping that Olivia was not going to die at all but then i remembered that some day she will die but I don't want her to die at the moment she is to young to die, there is more to live for than ever. Yes I think we should do something about it, not just standing around doing nothing. Myself and Olivia choose to around every street to see if we could see who killed the whole town, but the unknown person was not around every where we looked they would never be there.
But knowing after Emma got killed i never seen our form teacher but then
I realise that she went back to her home town, because her brother was in a car crash, it was quit a big crash. I know what it is like to be in a car crash i was in the car with my parents and this big truck was in the wrong lane was going at 100, i was so scared when I was in the hospital.
We were near Aimee's road and seen the person that had killed everyone in the town, we ran after the person that we did not know but they ran somewhere else but we did not see where they went.
The killed come up be hide us and killed Olivia with a car door, now i was the only person live not for long though. I ran as fast as i could but i didn't make it that far until i was shot in the had but that was not all he grabbed the car door again and tried to hit me but before he could I made a running so they were not able to catch me.
I could say i was fine but i was in a lot of pain, but they somehow magically they were in fount of with the car whole I have never seen anyone get killed by a whole car before. They though the whole car at me, it did kill me but i was alive for only for a little while and I closed my eyes.
That how everyone died or was it.

The Christchurch Earthquakes
How do tectonic plates move?
Plates at our plants surface move because of the intense heat in the earth's core that causes molten rock in the molten layer to move. It moves in a pattern called a convection cell that forms when warm material rises, cools, and eventually sink down. As the cooled material sinks down, it is warmed and rises again.
Scientists once thought that Earth's plates just surfed on top of the malte's giant convection cell's, but now scientists believe that plates help themselves move instead of just surfing along. Just like convection cells, plates have warmer, thinner parts that are more likely to rise, and cooler, denser parts that are more likely to sink.

What is the ring of fire edge?
The ring of fie is a ring of volcanoes are the Pacific Ocean that result room subduction of oceanic plates beneath lighter continental plates... A subduction zone is a place where one plate of oceanic lithosphere ( = the crust+ upper most mantle ) is shoved under another plate. The downing plate is always the oceanic one. All while it was oceanic plate it collected water-saturated and its uppermost few hundred metres got water saturated also. As it is shoved into the hotter matle the plate heats up and all this water and other volatiles boil off and migrate upwards though the overlying plate. This is why their is so many volcanoes around the Pacific rim.

Why do aftershocks happen afterwards?
Aftershocks are earthquakes that usually occur near the main shock. The stress on the main shock's fault changes during the main shock and most of the aftershocks occur on the same fault... The rate of aftershocks dies off quickly. The day after the main shock has half the aftershocks of the first day.

Why do earthquakes happen?
Earthquakes are usually caused when rocks underground suddenly breaks along a fault. This sudden release of energy causes the seismic waves that make the ground shake. When two blocks of rock or two plates are rubbing against each other, they stick a little. They don't just slide smoothly: the rocks catch on each other. The rocks are still pushing against each other, but not moving. After a while, the rocks break because of all the pressure that's built up. When the rocks break, the earthquakes occur. During the earthquake and after ward the plates or blocks of rock start moving, and they continue to move until they get stuck again. The spot underground where the rock breaks is called the focus of the earthquake. The place right above the focus ( on top of the ground) is called the epicenter of the earthquake.

What is the biggest earthquake that has happened in Christchurch?
- The largest was a 5.9-magnitude tremor which occurred just under two hours after the main earthquake
- A 5.3-magnitude aftershock on 16 of April, the largest for several weeks, caused further damage, including power cuts and several large rock falls.

How do we prevent from earthquake damage?
Earthquakes are natural disaster. That many people face every year. Unfortunately people often fail to prepare themselves or their homes from earthquake damage. Being prepared will save your time and money in the event of an earthquake.
1. Secure your belongings
2.Put latchs on cabinet doors and file cabines
3. Fasten your water heater and other appliances
4. Store hazardous materials in a sturdy place
5. Keep fire extinguishers

The missing letter
One day in a scary town, as people thought it would just be a normal town but it had become different after the biggest tsunami hit toads had taken over the whole tow.
Toad had eaten the whole town, until a unicorn turned up. The toads asked why the unicorn was in there town.
The reason why the unicorn was in town so they the people that used to live wanted to come back but the toad never let them back. The unicorn had found a sword just sit there on the tallest rock that could been seen. The toad never touched the sword so the unicorn decided to gave the sword make the town back to what it used to be. Once it was all cleaned up it the people entered back in the town.
